Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

By creating an account or using DeutschWeg, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please don't use the service. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and DeutschWeg.

2. The service

DeutschWeg is an online German language learning platform built for learners preparing for the Goethe-Institut A1, A2, B1, and B2 examinations. It includes structured lessons, practice exercises, mini-tests, AI Pal (a short-form learning companion), and AI Tutor (a longer-form teacher).

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.

4. Account responsibility

• You are responsible for the security of your account credentials.
• You must provide accurate registration information.
• One account per person — accounts are not transferable.
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account.

5. Trial and access

New accounts include a free trial period (currently 14 days) during which you have full access to the platform. After the trial, continued access may require a paid plan. Pricing and plan details are shown at point of upgrade and may change with notice.

6. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the service for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive.
• Attempt to break, scrape, reverse-engineer, or overload the platform.
• Share your account credentials or use someone else's account.
• Submit content that infringes on others' rights or violates applicable laws.
• Use AI Pal or AI Tutor to generate content that is hateful, discriminatory, or that violates third-party terms (including Anthropic's usage policies).

7. AI features — important caveats

AI Pal and AI Tutor are powered by large language models. They are designed as learning aids, not as authoritative sources. AI responses can occasionally be incorrect, incomplete, or out of date. Do not rely on AI feedback alone for high-stakes decisions (exam preparation should always be cross-checked with official Goethe materials and qualified teachers where possible).

The AI is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, or professional advice. If a conversation drifts in those directions, please consult a qualified professional.

8. Intellectual property

DeutschWeg, including its lessons, design, code, and branding, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may use the service for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, redistribute, or repurpose DeutschWeg content without written permission.

Content you submit (e.g., your messages to AI Pal, your written exercises) remains yours. You grant us a limited licence to process it as needed to operate the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that harms others or our platform. You may close your account at any time by contacting leisure.ish@gmail.com.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties about uninterrupted access, error-free operation, exam outcomes, or fitness for any particular purpose. Your success on a Goethe exam depends on many factors beyond DeutschWeg.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DeutschWeg is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or 100 EUR if you have not paid us anything.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email to active users. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which DeutschWeg is operated, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction. See our Impressum for details.
